CRAFTING GUIDEBOOK

So…you've completed a bunch of activities and gotten your activity levels pretty high…but now what? You're stuck with all the items you've found but don't have a clue about what to do with them. That's where Crafting comes in! Nearly all of your items have a purpose here.

Vespers need their Trials of Youth completed in order to craft, EXCEPT for the Eatery!

ALCHEMY | EATERY | FORGING | GENERAL GOODS | MISC

OVERVIEW

There are five branches of crafting Vespers can dive into - Alchemy, Eatery, Forging, General Goods, and Miscellaneous! With the exception of the Eatery, Crafting in Vesper-End is based on a leveling system. In this system, Vespers level up when they become more proficient in crafting! This is also where Careers come in handy - certain Careers provide benefits for specific branches of Crafting, and all those exclusive items you've earned from paydays finally have a use.

Let's take Alchemy, for example.

When starting off in Alchemy, most Vespers will begin at Level 1, with the exception of Gardeners, who begin at Level 2. The Alchemy level will be displayed under the Statistics section on the import as such:

â—† Alchemy: Level 1 (0/100 EXP)

Each time a Vesper crafts something in Alchemy, they will gain experience to level up. A successful crafting will award a Vesper 10EXP, while a failure will award them 5EXP. Leveling up decreases the risk of failure when crafting new and existing recipes.

The Eatery, however, does not rely on a leveling system. Because Vespers can complete activities and therefore lose stamina before their Trials have been completed, Vespers simply craft meals without leveling up. This is the only branch that does not require a Vesper to have their Trials of Youth - all other branches require it.

BRANCHES OF CRAFTING

Alchemy, hosted by Johannes, allows you to craft hundreds of different potions! You can pick from the conformed recipes or try making a new one yourself! Some potions have temporary effects, like preserving your Stamina for one activity submission, or permanent effects, like…well, that's there for you to discover! There are endless possibilities - all you need to do is chuck some items into a cauldron and stir until you get…something. In Alchemy, Gardeners start off at Level 2 and have a 50% chance to earn double items when crafting new and existing potions.

Eatery crafting, hosted by Edel, allows you to make meals for your Vesper to restore their health and stamina, and potentially give their stats a permanent boost along the way! Edel is here to help with all your cooking needs, and with the right ingredients, she can make an amazing treat! All those meat hunks finally come in handy. In the Eatery, Bakers cannot fail in cooking meals and have a 50% chance to earn double items when cooking.

The Eatery does not require Vespers to have their Trials of Youth completed before crafting. Because Vespers can complete activities and therefore lose stamina before their Trials have been completed, Vespers simply craft meals without leveling up.

Forging, hosted by Cass, allows you to craft armor, weaponry, and some of the basic ingredients required for those items and many other crafts. While you can purchase your wares at Cass's Smith, they can get a bit pricy, and when you craft yourself, you have the opportunity to make higher quality items. When crafting, you'll need to supply Cass with the necessary materials and a small feel, but Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths know her enough to drop the extra charge, and they have some other benefits. Weaponsmiths start off at Level 2 in Forging and only need to provide the materials when creating weaponry. The same thing goes for armor - Armorsmiths start off at Level 2 in Forging and only need to provide the materials when creating armor.

General Goods crafting, hosted by Addy, allows you to craft a variety of objects that you would normally find in General Goods. This is where you can make your own Adornments, Dyes, Inks and more! Addy may help you out, but her patience only goes so far. Let's just hope she doesn't smack you hard enough to warrant the added craft or purchase of a Warrior's Trophy.

Miscellaneous crafting allows you to make all other items under the sun! Here you can make some recipes that play a role in larger crafts, or you can make a one-use item for an activity. Many of these items haven't been discovered yet, but that means the opportunities are endless! Need a pouch to hold all your things? Done. Need a good luck charm? Done. All you need are the materials and determination. Just keep your toes clear of the blades.

CRAFTING LEVELS

The following levels apply to Alchemy, Forging, General Goods and Miscellaneous Crafting. The higher quality item effect only occurs in Forging which, when it occurs, raises the quality of the material than what the allotted items allowed (for example, if making a Medium Quality item with the specified materials, and higher quality activates, the resulting craft will be High Quality. Potion quality in Alchemy depends on the number of ingredients and does not change based on level, and General Goods and Miscellaneous Crafting do not have item quality tiers.

ROLE OF ITEMS

As stated earlier, the items you gather from Activities and other prompts are used in Crafting. Some items can only be used in one branch of crafting, but many items can be used in multiple branches. Some herbs, for example, are often used in both Alchemy and the Eatery! Just use your best judgement to match the right ingredients together when testing out a new recipe. Think about what you're aiming for!

If you don't have a clue where to start, here are some pointers for each branch!

Alchemy utilizes nearly every item in Vesper-End, but plants and meats are go-to items when trying new recipes. Match up similar items for the best result!

The Eatery utilizes all types of food items, like meat, fish, herbs, spices and common baking ingredients. If you can cook something with it, it belongs in the Eatery!

Forging utilizes ores, pelts, leather and hides, among other ingredients, to create sturdy armor, weaponry, and ingredients for other branches of crafting.

General Goods utilizes a variety of ingredients, though it overlaps with Forging in the use of leather and ores. Check the existing ingredients for a general idea of what might work there!

Miscellaneous is a wild card! Anything may work here…or you'll end up with a useless lump of leather. But hey, no harm in trying, right?

If you attempt a recipe in a branch with ingredients that don't belong, like Ores in the Eatery, for example (if you even try to eat rocks but hey, to each their own), the vendor will let you keep your ingredients and direct you to the right branch to try again.

Hopefully that explains it all! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know! We'd be happy to receive your feedback.

Happy Crafting!
